  • Theta Kappa Brother Emory “David” Ellis (ΘΚ 50), age 65 of Eatonton, GA, passed to Chapter Eternal on Friday, June 21, 2013 in Macon after an extended illness. He was a native of Macon, a 1965 graduate of Willingham High School, and a 1969 graduate of Georgia Southern University. David was colony member of Theta Kappa Chapter and returned for initiation in 1971 after graduation. He also attended Middle Georgia College, where he met several future Sigma Nu brothers. During his time at Sigma Nu he served as the Pledge Marshal in the colony during Brother Bob Brown’s term as Commander.

     

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Josephine Ellis; brother, Gary Ellis. He played the trombone in the marching band at Willingham High School and traveled to the World's Fair in New York. David played baseball at Middle Georgia College in Cochran, graduated from Georgia Southern College and was a colony member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He is survived by his children, Tamara Jo and Justin Ellis of Chattanooga, TN and their mother, Madeline Jo; brother, Dennis Ellis of Cochran, GA; sister, Phyllis (Steve) Stone of Macon, GA; also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great-nephews and special friends. David requested that his ashes be placed in the ocean at Daytona Beach, FL. where he lived some of his happiest days. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
