The Sigma Nu House at Georgia Southern University is owned/operated by the Theta Kappa House Corporation, is a non-profit corporation in the State of Georgia also recognized by the IRS. The corporation is managed by a board of directors, which is self-appointed and comprised of alumni members who have made a substantial financial commitment to the construction and sustainment of the Chapter Home. The board may appoint other like-minded alumni from the pool of eligible alumni. To be eligible you must have made a substantial, long term financial commitment to the house. The funds for the construction of the Theta Kappa House were raised through generous donations from our alumni members (<250 at the time) with the remaining amount (~50%) financed through Sea Island Bank. In 2000 we initiated a campaign to “retire the note”; in 2005 the house note was retired and was ceremoniously burned. The House Corporation is a standing member of Southern Greek Housing Corporation, an educationally focused, nonprofit corporation (501c3) that owns the Greek Village land.
